Discover the profound role of Ogham in shaping Irish identity during the 19th and 20th centuries in the Leinster region. Delve into "From Stones to Poems: The Role of Ogham in Irish Identity in the Leinster Region During the 19th and 20th Centuries," an enlightening and meticulously researched Master's thesis by Lora O'Brien.
"I thoroughly enjoyed the thesis and was glad I had studied a bit about the covered periods in learning Irish history I am sure it is common knowledge in Irish Academics (or even schoolchildren?) but I might have been lost as an American if I was not familiar (though on a cursory level) with these time periods and know the names and history of the named revolutionaries.
That being said, the research was fascinating. The phases towards building a national identity and how Ogham was related to these phases or even part of a driving force towards an Irish Identity in Leinster was amazing to see. I think it is no mystery that I am here that I have a passion about Ogham and it seems it has been a shared passion throughout Irish history." - L. Christopher Bird.
